Tata's statements add fuel to the public discontent over the land acquisition

Ratan Tata's comments on Singur land acquisition feeds fuel to the farmer's movement.

Singur krishi jami raksha committee (SKJRC) threatens to file defamation suit against Tata.

APDR (Association for protection of democratic rights) promises to extend legal help to to SKJRC if they file the suit.

Tata's statemet has come at a time when Mamata Banerjee, Trinomool's leader who is on fast for last 25 days, continues to be on oxygen support.

Doctors who examined her said low blood pressure and pulse rate were a cause for concern. Her blood sample was collected during the day for detailed examination. Replying to a question, home secretary Prasad Roy said Mamata would be fed forcibly if it was necessary.

Meanwhile, Mamata's worsening health has drawn the attention of PM Manmohan Singh. Singh, on Wednesday, instructed the Central authorities to extend all medical care for her in view of deterioration in her health. Governor Gopal Krishna Gandhi sent yet another letter to Mamata requesting her to break the fast and start negotiations.

"How can there be negotiation on condition that one side will stay rigid in its stance and the other side will have to wind up its agitation," Party for Democratic Socialism leader Samir Putatunda asked.

Former Assam chief minister Prafulla Mahanta visited her and noted economist Amlan Dutta expressed his solidarity with the movement.

On Friday, Left front partners will raise the issue in a front meeting to be attended by the chief minister. They are willing to visit her to end her marathon hunger protest.

CPI, one of the members of the left front government, even demands in a public meeting in Kolkata, that Tata units should come up on fallow land.

Another member, RSP has been all through insisting that all-party MLA delegation may be sent to Singur to find the facts. They openly declared that they are confused because of conflicting reports they are getting from various sources within and without the government.
